GRP2 DH 11' Fly Rods

Our GRP2 line of two handed rods is a result of countless hours on the water.  The goal was to develop a series of rods that not only performed as well or better than anything else we've had the pleasure of casting, but that was durable enough to make us feel comfortable taking multi day expeditions chasing chrome through the Northwest without a backup rod. By listening to the feedback from our reps, guides, and customers and mixing it with what we know about rod design, we feel confident we've dialed it in with our GRP2 line. We're pretty confident you'll agree once you pick one up.

Featuring our full flex fast action, these rods are extremely responsive and accurate while maintaining a flex you can feel into the butt section for maximum feel. We designed the blanks with a composite blend of intermediate and high modulus Japanese Toray Carbon to not only give increased strength, but to achieve the feel and action that is unique to these rods. They are fast and responsive when you want them to be, but forgiving as well. They are casting machines, which will make you forget you're standing waist deep in a run.

Instead of adding dead weight by sanding and painting the blank we adjusted the taper and left the blanks un-sanded. This results in 0% dead weight and increased strength while slightly decreasing overall weight. It also looks really nice! The stripping guides are black oxidized stainless steel, and the snake guides are an ultra light black oxidized stainless steel which decreases the swing weight in the upper portion of the rod. Black thread wraps with green and silver accents set the rod off, and the components on the Steelhead Switch and Salmon Switch make them saltwater worthy. The Trout Switch has a rosewood burl reel seat which is not recommended for use in salt water unless you regularly rinse your gear.

Although we feel that flies should be swung whenever possible, they drift bobbers quite well too. The GRP2 Switch Rods are geared towards spey casting but are also light enough to cast overhead when lined up correctly. The blend of carbon allowed us to achieve a wider grain window, and they are equally at home with a fast paced stroke and a long light scandi head as they are with the slower paced sustained anchor casts when lined up with a bulky skagit head and the longest and heaviest of sink tips.
